STUDY SKILLS
-It's fine. The exam is online. I don't need to study.
-I looked over my notes. I don't understand why I did so badly!
-What do you mean I have to fill out the study guide? I thought the teacher did that for us?
-I thought I had good notes, but none of them were on the test.
If COVID taught students one thing, it was how to cheat! The great majority of rising or returning college students have not been taught how to take notes, let alone, actively study.
Unfortunately, many students believe that copying the professor's PowerPoint during a lecture is taking notes. They don't realize that the PowerPoint is simply an outline that needs to be filled in while they listen to the lecture.
They also believe that by looking at their notes, they will suddenly be prepared for a college-level exam. This is simply not true.
At College Bound Thinkers, we teach students the difference between an outline and real notes. We provide them with opportunities to practice.
